Online concerts, seminars, classes and events are becoming more popular and more successful than ever in these uncertain times. Before the pandemic, people were weary to pay for online events. Online events do not have a history of being profitable. Many websites charge a hosting fee. Hosts had to factor that fee into their ticket cost, driving the cost up. Now that in-person events are limited, consumers are not turning their backs on these events. More importantly, companies like Zoom have risen where they are not taking a percentage of the host’s admission profits. Google and Facebook are still platforms that allow for creators to charge admission fees. However, they do take a percentage of the profit.
Professional workshops, workout classes, yoga sessions and other tutorials are just some of the examples of events being held. It is an easy way to support your favorite local or small business while getting something out of it, as well. Celebrities have taken advantage of this forum, as well. Billie Eilish, for example, held an exclusive virtual concert for $40 a ticket in October. This offers an nice alternative to concert lovers, as they are likely paying much less than they would have to see their favorite performer in person. Plus, they are getting a front row seat.
