Digital advertising is getting more and more difficult by the day. With so many companies bombarding us with their ads, it’s almost like we’ve developed a built-in ad blocker over time. On average, we see over 5,000 different brands a day according to Forbes. Now that may be a little of an exaggeration, but nonetheless we’re constantly exposed to outer influences trying everything they can to obtain your attention.
One concept I share with my clients is the premise of creating familiarity with your audience. This is why brands spend millions of dollars to constantly show up in your face so you feel as if you can trust them. However with so much competition in today’s world, where does that leave smaller sized companies in their digital strategy or marketing campaigns for an online customer?
How to Stand Out in a Competitive World
As much as I always talk to B2C companies about the concept of branding, that’s the only true way to stand out in this market today. With you being one in a million of others in your same industry, like digital marketing courses for example. But finding your potential customers by creating a raving fan audience is the secret. How does one create raving fans? Well, look at a companies who have done that very well, such as Apple. They’re always a few steps behind Android electronic devices every year, yet they have some of the most loyal and outspoken fanbase.
Branding isn’t just a logo, it’s an emotion/feeling you bring to your customer base and a movement you create. Create something that your fans are always looking forward to and can’t wait to see what you’re doing next, creating FOMO if they’re not in the know. One of the best people to learn how to create that feeling and movement is Marty Neumeier an all time best-selling author on the conceptual understanding of a brand.
There are many additional ways we help businesses grow in their understand their customers’ behavior and audience’s buyer persona by following the latest trends. Just staying up to date with the movements already going on, riding that train to show you’re conscious of what people care about and the customer stories, has seen to improve companies conversion rate.
Optimizing Your Content
One of the biggest additions to appearing #ONTOP! is creating relevant optimized content. There are many marketing resources that offer the ability to have effective digital marketing and better market communication like SimilarWeb, AnswerThePublic, or KeywordsEverywhere. Those are some of the most popular sites people use, however we’ve built our own digital platform over here at Pinnacle Status. It gives result pages for many different key performance indicators to get the most up to date optimized search engine results in the world. We even separate mobile marketing from desktop because they aren’t always the same. With over 80% internet usage coming from mobile devices, you must stay with the times or be like Blockbuster.
With Google EAT being the primary focus of the digital marketing effort this next decade, T is the main focal point. Trustworthiness in an age of constant data breaches, selling customer information, and cybersecurity & privacy is what we all care about. I personally use DuckDuckGo for the best privacy settings, even though Google says its job is to organize the internet’s information. However, with our expertise of search engine optimization (SEO) and helping clients rank on search engines, it’s turning more towards ppc advertising (paid search) like google AdWords. With Google ads taking away the Ad notifier and replacing it with the company icon, it leaves many users upset not being able to filter through. What can we say other than data is today’s gold mine, and everyone is on the hunt for it. I mean look at Amazon’s digital transformation of an industry, and now their ties with the US government, giving them access to their data systems.
We’re seeing one of the biggest digital marketing assets currently with TikTok video marketing, showing us again the power of user experience on media channels. Being smart with your presence by spreading it across any other marketing channel is the best move. As we saw with the rise and fall of Vine, you gotta take your audience to offline marketing or be at the limb of the rules to the platform you use. Best approach is spreading the one piece content you create through each medium. For example putting video advertisements on YouTube, cutting a snippet on LinkedIn-Facebook-Instagram, transcribing the video to publish on a blog, all while redirecting each place to your pages. Almost like a lead generation, creating a buyers journey and customer experiences. All while giving your websites traffic to track the analytics and collect data to improve the marketing effort.
The world today is always looking for social proof. I mean let’s be honest when was the last time you did a background check on someone? You more than likely just stalked their social media pages to do your check right? Customers do the same thing checking how many followers, likes, comments, etc. True engagement is hard to fake, so doing the work researching what your audience wants and being a value-based content marketer will never go away. Another big trend we saw in 2019 and will continue is influencer marketing. Partnering with a local social media marketer to help push your product, yet not coming off sales-ie is the goal, right? Question is, how do you come off genuine like your product/service really is the best thing since sliced bread? Content marketing strategy is a must for better conversion rate optimization period.
